Dig & Clean ๐Ÿงผ โ€” How Cleaning Works

Cleaning is the step that turns a dirty find into an actual item. Everything you dig up comes out unidentified; only spraying it clean reveals what it is and how rare it is. Here is the full loop, with every claim labeled by source.

The 5 official steps

These five steps are quoted from the game's own How to Play description โ€” the strongest source there is.

The loop

Dig, spray, reveal โ€” then sell or display

The reveal only happens after cleaning. That is the one rule everything else hangs on.

1. Dig

Use your shovel to pull up dirty junk or buried treasure. Dig Power decides what you can reach.

2. Clean

Spray the find clean. Nothing is identified before this step โ€” rarity only reveals after cleaning.

3. Reveal

Find out what it is. Your Luck stat drives the rarity roll at this moment.

4. Sell or display

Cash the find in for gold (sell function: medium confidence) or place it in your museum (placement is manual: medium confidence) to show it off.

What Instant Clean changes

Confirmed โ€” mechanic inferred

The Instant Clean pass (249 R$, confirmed via the Roblox Game Passes API) skips or heavily reduces the timed spray-cleaning action, so finds reveal immediately. Whether it is a full skip or a massive speed-up is inference from the pass name โ€” the game does not document it.

Practical effect: your dig-clean cycle compresses to mostly digging, which also makes spray bottle upgrades far less urgent.

Why you should clean everything

Official

Rarity only reveals after cleaning. An uncleaned find cannot be sold, displayed in your museum, or even identified โ€” it is pure backlog. The official description makes the reveal the payoff moment: spray it clean and find out what it is.

Since your Luck stat drives the rarity roll at reveal time, every find you leave dirty is a roll you never took.

Museum placement is manual (medium confidence)

Multiple gameplay videos show players placing cleaned finds into their museum by hand rather than the game auto-displaying them. Corroborated but not official โ€” treat it as manual until an official source confirms either way.

FAQ

Cleaning FAQ

How do you clean items in Dig & Clean ๐Ÿงผ?

Dig up a dirty find with your shovel, then use your spray bottle on it. The item is only identified after cleaning โ€” that reveal is when you find out what it is and how rare it is.

What does the Instant Clean pass do?

By its name, it skips or heavily reduces the timed spray-cleaning action so finds reveal immediately. The exact mechanic (full skip vs. massive speed-up) is inference โ€” the pass itself is confirmed via the Roblox Game Passes API.

Should I clean every item I dig up?

Yes. Rarity only reveals after cleaning, so an uncleaned find is worthless โ€” you cannot sell it, display it, or even know what it is until you spray it.

Is museum placement automatic in Dig & Clean?

Medium confidence: multiple gameplay videos show players placing finds manually in their museum. Treat it as manual until an official source says otherwise.
